Welcome to Hypersonic Tales! — Now a Podcast!
You've made it to a unique online flash fiction magazine that also became a unique flash fiction podcast this month. We don't just publish original speculative fiction stories as text. We produce them as audio files — now available for download, thanks to Huffduffer!. Hear them via the player placed just over the story content. Or take them with you, via the download button just under the player. And enjoy!
Hypersonic Tales mainly features the science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, and the macabre genres. To readers, enjoy your visit. Everything's free. To writers, we hope our stories will aid you on the sometimes frustrating path of a storyteller. Flash fiction is a great way to practice the art of the short story by paring it down to the fundamentals. We’ve been producing fresh issues of Hypersonic Tales each month since June 2009. And we're constantly making enhancements. So, bookmark us and return often!

Speculative Flash Fiction for September 2009 Volume 1, Issue 4

This month, we've got a bunch of stories! Much as we did last month, only these are different stories, see?
We'll give you the hyper-accurate synopses and see whether you can guess which is which:
If you're going to court a lady in a tower chock full-o-mirrors, you better bring a harp. The more things change, the more they keep on changing even after billions of years. Staring directly into Chaos is not recommended by the Surgeon General. Cheap virtual reality holidays are no replacement for quality time out of the slammer. And, finally, you should back up all your brain data, so get a pen and some paper.
Seriously, we really have some excellent stories by Nathaniel Lee, Larry Hodges (Welcome Back!), Penelope Friday, Erin M. Kinch and Coy Hall. Enjoy and give us some feedback! Send an e-mail to submissions@hypersonictales.com. (And we still proudly feature a complete lack of vampire stories. Keep sending in your non-vampire stories!)
